Don't look different to sound the same.

Clarity, where there's noise

Pete Watman

Co-Founder, Chief BrandVoice Officer

Many brands invest heavily in their visual identity to stand out, but overlook how they sound. You see it in their brand guidelines: lots on logo placement with a nod towards 'tone of voice' in the last slides.

These brands look great, often unique. But when their communications sound sector standard, they give away much of their advantage.

Visual attracts. Verbal engages.

Beautiful plumage needs a complementary call. There's little point dressing like a diva if you sound like a sheep. Or worse yet - an AI sheep. I came to this verbal identity, brand voice thing via advertising, where standing out is everything.

My creative experience covers advertising, naming, branding and communications across every major category and media. I've spent the last ten years helping super funds, banks, universities, property groups and startups create or refresh their brand voice - and training writers to wield it.

Creating a strong brand voice is an asset to outlast any campaign. Get it right and it builds with every line of copy.
